Requiem By Katherine Lightwood

Requiem

By Katherine Lightwood

They say ignore your demons, then it will not torment,
Never heed what the voices scream, it will lay dormant.

Did what they taught, made up my mind,
So, left them alone in dark, but they were not that kind.

Abide by their rules , preached what they said,
Made sand castles on the shore, kept playing with grenade.

They told me to fight like a gladiator, to testify my innocence,
Stranded alone on the arena, treated with no importance.

I lost my battle, surrendered my soul to devil,
Thought the story was over, but couldn't imagine it to be so evil.

Between the fading lines of sorrow and hate I grew,
Between the losing side of my fate which I already knew.

Lonesome lass was I, stuck in the chaos of the loud world,
My every breath seemed like wailing of a caged worthless bird.

They say, I can't be free, would be bound in the loophole of continuity,
Would get lost in the tornado of my own dreams, losing serenity.

They framed the world and try to shape me on their way,
Perplexed as I stand in doubt and saw the clouds go so grey.

Lost in the narrow race of the world and got replaced,
Searched for the lost goals and empty dreams were chased.

At last I stopped and gathered consciousness a bit little,
Realised after I watched the shadows, my fear pricked like poisonous needle.

Stuck in a very dark maze with walls of mirror and mirages,
Got hit , hurt and bleed, but still couldn't find any escape bridges.

Thought a song could sooth my soul, must have to be a requiem,
Wish someone could inscribe it in my grave stone just like a grim emblem.
